ARE HEAVEN AND HELL REAL? - continued

A young man's question
A young man walked up to a preacher one day and said:
'stop all this noise that you are making – saying that Jesus Christ died to save us from sin and hell and to provide a way to heaven for all those who believe in Him. In fact, I have a question for you: what if you die and find out that there is no heaven or hell – what will you do?'

The preacher paused for some moments and then responded:

'Well if that happens, I don't think I will have any regrets. As a born again Christian, I have peace and joy in my life. I have confidence to face the challenges of life and a good sense of security.
Moreover, I do not indulge in those things which you call enjoyment (like sexual immorality, etc.) neither do I fear the negative consequences that they bring.

But young man, I also have a question for you', said the preacher: 'what if you die and find out just like the Bible says, that there is heaven and there is hell and you are not ready for heaven – what will you do?'

That young man stood there speechless. He had no answer.

The Bible teaches clearly that heaven and hell are real
There is perhaps no other book in the world today that sheds better light on the subject of heaven and hell than the Bible (the word of God).

Therefore if you believe that God's word is true, you should not have any difficulty knowing that heaven and hell are real.

Jesus tells us that they are real
Nobody preached and demonstrated love as much as Jesus Christ did. In fact, He loved us to the point of laying down His life for us. When He gave Himself to be beaten, tortured and crucified on the cross of Calvary, it was in order to pay for our salvation.

But if you read the New Testament, you will find that no one also taught and said more about heaven and hell than Jesus did. He tells us what we must do to get to heaven and what we must do to avoid hell.

For instance, look at these scriptures:
"When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.

Then the King will say to those on His right hand, Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world …. Then He will also say to those on the left hand, Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels ….. And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
(Mat.25: -31-46 – NKJV)

Here is another one:
"If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.

And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.
And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched."
(Mark 9:43-48 – NKJV)

The Apostles tell us that they are real
From the epistles of apostles Peter, Paul and John in the New Testament, the message is clear that heaven and hell are real. In fact, let's look at a few verses from the book of Revelation written by Apostle John:

"Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life.

And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire."

(Rev.20:11-15 – NKJV)

"Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." (Rev.21:1-4 – NKJV)

Eye-witness accounts confirm that they are real
There are several accounts of people who actually died, left their bodies and went into the world beyond but later came back to life to narrate what they saw. In some cases, the death certificate had been issued by qualified medical doctors.

If you have not already done so, watch the videos and listen to some of these accounts on the previous page (Click here to go there).

Science does not know what to make of these undeniable accounts so it simply classifies them as "near death experiences" (NDE).

Many of these accounts confirm what the Bible already told us that when people die, they go to one of two places – heaven or hell; and that heaven is a beautiful and wonderful place while hell is a place of torment beyond description.

Don't be wilfully Ignorant
A lot of people choose not to pay attention to this reality because it will tamper with the choices they make and the way they live their life.

What many present as the reason for not believing this truth is nothing more than mere logic behind which they hide their unwillingness to believe so that they can continue to live the way they please. This is what the Bible calls wilful ignorance.

But that is a very unwise thing to do. Refusing to believe what is true does not change the truth, instead it exposes those concerned to the danger(s) they could have avoided.

For instance, if someone says he doesn't believe that electric current can kill him and he goes and grabs hold of a naked high-voltage wire (connected to a power source) with his bare hands, will he be electrocuted? Of course he will - his unbelief notwithstanding.

Don't let that happen to you. Ask Jesus to save your soul now before it is forever too late.
